“When was the last time you used the word ‘mercy’ in a sentence?”, asked Pastor Alex.
I thought and thought and couldn’t remember the last time I used the word mercy.  Then I thought about some of the horrific things I have seen on the news and realized I didn’t think “mercy”.  I didn’t say or ask myself why aren’t people showing mercy?
Then I thought about the children I teach.  They are 8 and 9 years old.  Have they ever seen the word ‘mercy’ in their readings?  Would they know what the word meant if they read it?  How about if they heard it spoken?  When have I spoken the word out loud?  When have you?
I realized that this would be a word I would consider archaic.  It’s up there with the words ‘widow’ and ‘phonograph’.
‘Mercy’ is a little used word and I wonder why that is.  So then I went a step further in my mental journey and wondered if I don’t speak the word, do I live the word?  If I don’t write the word, do I show the word in my actions and attitude to those around me?  And if I think I do, then how do I show it, live it, and give meaning to the word ‘mercy’.
I try to show mercy by being tolerant of those people who are different than me.  Different in the way they live, think, worship, and look.  Do I shun people who are lost, lonely, homeless or do I reach out and try to help?  Maybe at times I feel uncomfortable, but I try to still reach out.  Am I judgmental of others…..do I show mercy in the way I approach someone or something that is different then me?  I think I do judge, yet I try not to.  I am not always tolerant of diversity, but I try to be tolerant.  I know I have to try harder.  But I wonder that knowing I am not that perhaps I am…

Self Doubt by RawPitusin

We all suffer from self doubt at one time or another.  Self doubt comes from us allowing the environment around us to dictate judgements that have nothing to do with who we are deep inside.  There are times we are not aware we are self doubting our authentic selves….we are merely going along and suddenly wonder, “When did this happen?” or “How did I come to this junction/decision/opinion/fate?”

We allow society’s dictates to dictate us in an almost subliminal way, how we should think, respond, or feel.  We have to be careful especially in our responses.  Too often we are quick to respond in the negative when in fact there could be underlying issues creating the situation.

Maryann Williamson says there are two ways we view the world around us.  We either view the world with love or with fear.  So often we are viewing the world in fear.  Too often we view our inner selves in fear.  We need to remember Maryann Williamson’s words and move forward first in love, even when we are in self doubt.  Love yourself.   Love yourself first.  Picture your love radiating out from you, touching all and everything around you.  The rays moving through time and space endlessly.

Does it always work out in a positive way when you view the world from love or project love out, no.  But just think how much better it feels to you inside, deep inside your soul, to come from love rather then fear, hatred, anger, and self doubt. We all know when something resonates truth…

As Don Miguel Ruiz writes, “have faith in oneself”.

“I want to make America great again!!”

Mr. Trump
Mr. Trump keeps saying he wants to make America great again.  He said he is the man to do it.  Is he?  He said that we have to bring jobs back to the United States, can he actually do that?  He said that immigration is a problem.  That all people who came here illegally will be deported.  Can he really deport 11 million people?  He said that he will fix education and argues the pros and cons of the Common Core.  Can he make a difference?  He said that the Hedge Fund people don’t pay their fair share of taxes, that they know all the loop holes.  Will he close the loop holes?  Will the super wealthy start paying their fair share?
Mr. Trump has opened up a dialogue on issues that make people very nervous because they are either not politically correct or they are sensitive for another reason.  People were fast to say that Mr. Trump was entertaining and that his fire will burn itself out.  Yet all the other candidates have taken up his issues, his platform and are speaking on them by tweaking the wording.  So what exactly does that mean?  Are the other candidates having an “Ah-hah” moment or are they trying to catch up to Mr. Trump because he is resonating with so many people?
People are tired of professional politicians.  People are tired of paying for the mistakes of government.  People are tired of being bounced around within the system.  People are tired of having their livelihood threatened by promises of cutting social security and medi-care.  People are tired of looking to the future and wondering if their last day of work will have to be their last day on Earth.
People are tired of being disrespected and devalued in a system that should be honoring its citizens.
People are tired of children being the platform of politicians rather then the agenda.
People are tired of Educational Administrators making high 6 figure salaries and not making good choices for the teachers or students.
People are tired of seeing their old age ridiculed and toasted as a burden, rather then being heralded for a lifetime of work and achievement.
People are tired of being tired……
So do we trust Mr. Trump to do as he preaches?  We trusted Obama with his message of hope.  How did that work out?  I’m willing to give Trump a chance.  He can’t hurt the country any more then it is already hurt.  Perhaps a business person can make a difference.
It’s early yet, lets wait and see what happens over the next few months.  But I like hearing what Mr. Trump has to say.  Somehow I am beginning to believe that perhaps America does have a chance to be great again.  Maybe, just maybe, all people can prosper…
